Did you know that the fashion industry is the second biggest polluter of fresh water on Earth?
It is estimated that around 80 billion items of clothing are delivered out of factories worldwide. Clothing consumption results in 1.5 billion tonnes of C02 emissions per household each year which is equivalent of driving 6000 cars. Yet, 95% of clothing that is discarded could be recycled or upcycled.
It is clear that we need a fashion revolution. A new way of seeing, consuming and producing clothes in a way that respects both the workers that make clothes and the environment. We are the ambassadors of our clothes, so it is important to know the story behind the clothes we wear and the true cost of them to both the workers and the environment.
This is a podcast recording from my live radio show on Saturday the 20th of April.
